Are you looking for more information on First Aid? We've compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions to our first-aid training specialists.

How long does first aid training last? On completion of our 3-Day First Aid at Work Training course or Emergency First Aid at Work course, you will be a certified first aider for 3 years. Learners will gain comprehensive skills and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies in the workplace with confidence and in turn, could save a life. After the 3 years are up if you want to continue being a qualified first aider you will need to complete a First Aid at Work Refresher training course.

How often is first aid refresher training required? If your staff have completed a 3-Day First Aid at Work training course or Emergency First Aid at Work course, they will be a qualified first aider for 3 years. After the 3 years, if you want them to continue being a qualified first aider, they will need to complete a First Aid at Work Refresher training course.

However, the HSE strongly recommend that your staff completes a First Aid Annual Refresher training course every year to keep their skills up to date.

Why is first aid training important?

An accident can occur at any time and if it did, someone in the workplace needs to be qualified to help. It is a legal requirement as a company to ensure your employees receive immediate attention. Here are some reasons why first aid is important:

First Aid can save lives - Employees will be more confident and capable of responding quickly to an event, injury, or illness after receiving first aid training. Many lives have been saved as a result of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) being performed quickly and correctly.
A safer workplace - If an accident occurs at work, employees may be able to protect the accident victim from additional injury. First aid courses in the workplace promote safer practices amongst employees.
It gives you the tools to keep incidents from getting worse - In some cases, if a patient does not receive basic first aid care right away, their condition will rapidly deteriorate. You can stabilise a patient until emergency medical help arrives if you can administer basic first aid.

Can First Aid training be done online?

Yes, first aid training can be done online! However, if you are completing a course that requires a practical element, such as First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid, then they need to be completed via our blended learning solutions.

Blended learning is an accepted means by which workplace first aid training can be delivered.
